A LITERATE WARRIOR CATS ROLEPLAY
out of character rules
1. Respect everyone.
We expect our members to be able to respect everyone on this site, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or any other determining factors. We are a No Tolerance site. What does that mean? It means that we will not tolerate bullying or harassment in any way shape or form. One example of it and you will be dismissed from our site.
2. Respect your staff.
We as staff do a lot for this site. We spend a lot of extra hours making it perfect, adding new things to keep it interesting, advertising so we can remain active. Because of this, it tends to get a little stressful on an admin when a member is putting extra pressure on us. There are things we will tolerate, such as a pressing issue on the site (this can include reporting a member, but does not have to be as extreme) and we expect you to be able to make the decision on how truly pressing the matter is. Please refrain from asking us to be staff. If we are in need of a staff member, we will hold auditions or find who we feel is qualified. While we appreciate the enthusiasm, we are capable.
3. Our site rating is PG-13.
We have some violence and gore, but nothing so graphic that we have to be concerned for younger children. Warrior Cats is a topic where many people, young and old, can seek a home. By making it PG-13 we make this an appropriate place for all members to be, not just the adults.
4. Regarding signing up.
On Fidelis, we use a "one per character" sign up. This means that you are allowed to have one character per account. Each account must have at least an avatar, but including a signature is preferable.
5. Regarding activity.
Once you have joined Fidelis, you will be given two (2) days to post an application. After which, you will be given seven (7) to complete it. You may post a thread saying you will be absent for a few days, but once you get back, your count down continues. It will be paused for the period of time that you will be gone. If you fail to return from a leave of absence, you will be given three (3) days to come back to the site. If you do not return, your character's biography will be archived and your profile will be deleted. We reserve the right to do this because having empty accounts laying around effects activity.
6. Remaining active.
We truly understand that you all have lives, and we hate to ask too much of you, but at the same time we are running a site here. We ask that you post at least one post per character per week, though if you are unable to for whatever reason, please just give the admins a heads up. We really are good about making exceptions, especially when it is necessary. We ask that high positions create at least three posts per weeks. This means that we want your high position cats to have three posts in a week along with at least one post for whichever other cats you have.
7. Shells.
Shells are a currency set up to promote posting. By posting, you can earn 15 shells for every thread you start, and 10 shells for every post after. You can purchase items in our shop which can be found here. We ask that once you buy an item that you put the item you bought and the account you put it under in your biography so we may review that you actually did do this. In addition to the site shop, there are also member shops where you can spend shells. It is up to the creator of the shop if they would like to charge shells for their work or do it for free. *If you decide to purchase work from an artist, you are required to pay them when you have received their work not before. If someone is telling you to transfer money to their account before you have received your commission, contact a staff member immediately. For artists. If you do not receive payment for your art within forty-eight hours of it being posted, you may contact a staff member. We will first contact them and they will be given twenty-four hours to give you the shells. If they do not, we are authorized to remove them from one account and transfer them to you. Artists have a right to refuse to make a member a commission if AND ONLY IF they do not have the sufficient funds to pay them. Artists may not discriminate against members and refuse to create artwork for them.

creating a character
1. Naming your character.
Here at Fidelis, we have a naming guide which can be found here. We also have a name claim, where you can see which names have all ready been reserved by other members. Click here to view. While you are not obligated to choose one of the names on this list, we do reserve the right to place an application as pending because of a character's name. Names must be something found naturally in natural or descriptive words that the original warriors would have known. While we hate to put a damper on creativity, we as staff have decided to uphold the tradition of names and require that it be continued out by all our members.
2. Queens and kits.
Queens and kits cannot be created. Meaning, you may not create a queen that is pregnant or nursing and you cannot create a kit that is either the son/daughter of said queen or a kit that does not have parents. Why is that? Because it is unrealistic. Your character may have previous kits (that are the age of apprentice or older) in their history, and they can be adopted, but you may not create a queen or kit.
3. Coloration.
While cats are unique and often many different colors, we do ask that you keep them realistic. That means a cat that is green, blue, purple, red (not to be confused with ginger), rainbow, or pink will not be accepted. We enjoy freedom as much as the next person, but if you are here to create a crazy colored character, then you have come to the wrong place. A cat's eye color must also be natural. You can however buy a strange eye coloration in the shop. *This does not include mismatched eyes. Male calicos and torties can be purchased in the shop as well.
4. Personality.
We all love to write up a creative history, but please keep this in mind: every cat has a flaw, a weakness of some kind. Not every cat will be perfect at hunting and fighting. Not every cat will be socially graced or the most popular cat in the clan. But just the same, not every cat can suck at everything, be a social drop out, be completely hated by their clan, and be overly dramatic and depressed. We need a balance. So please keep that in mind when creating characters.
5. Histories.
Everyone loves a tragic history, one where everyone close to them dies, where the kits were orphaned early into their childhood, where their parents were eaten by a fox, they were kidnapped by a loner, or what have you. Some like to go the other way, making the next Firestar, where he was a kitty-pet, made a warrior, and on his way to become leader. Realize that for Firestar, it was a ONE TIME THING. No one had ever heard about it in the past, and certainly none of the other clans were open to the idea. We aren't saying you can't do it, we are saying you can't do it for every character. We ask that you keep some originality in it. And if we deny it because we have had too many Firestars, then please realize that this is our right to do it as owners.
6. High positions.
Here at Fidelis, high position cats are auditioned for. We as staff have the right to deny a character a high position for any reason and will do so if we feel fit for the site. That being said, all high positions must be auditioned for before they are made. We expect a detailed post as well as a good explanation of the cat's personality. Don't worry about being denied because of skill. As long as you are able to form a three hundred word post or over, your chances of a position will improve. To apply for a high position, please do so here.
7. The Shop.
The site shop is used at several points of a character's lifespan. For some it is used in the development stages where you are creating them and buying something to create them the way they are. It is also used when a character is being roleplayed, such as if they become deaf or blind in the game or if they want to have a forbidden romance. If you have bought something for your character in the developmental stage, please state in your biography in the appropriate section which profile it is on.

playing a character
1. Roleplaying style.
Here at Fidelis, we want to respect everyone's right to be an individual. That being said, we are open to two kinds of roleplay styles. Third person which uses the she, he, they, them; or first person which uses the I, me, we, us. The reason we do not accept second person is because there are not many roleplayers that use it, and even fewer that are capable of writing a substantial post with it.
2. Word count.
Yep, that's right, we have a word count. We have a word count of three hundred (300) words per in character post. Our site welcomes members of all levels, but is most likely only suited for intermediate to advanced roleplayers. Please do not feel discouraged by this if you are a beginner, because we do make exceptions and are capable of making them as often as possible to help you get on your feet. If you are new to roleplaying, we also recommend that you work with an experienced roleplayer in our school. If you are not comfortable working on the forum where other people can read and watch you learn (which, hey, it is all up to you), just send a message to one of the staff members and we will happily help you either find someone to work with you or work with you ourselves. This is ENTIRELY up to you.
3. Power-play and god-mod.
Power-playing and god-modding are two of the quickest ways to become the least popular person on a site. It may sound harsh, but it is true. No one likes a character that you are fighting with that you can't even hit or always hits you and even less appreciated is someone who takes over your character. This is a different story when you have approval from the person you are roleplaying with, but you must have their permission.
4. Romance.
Characters are obviously allowed to have mates and kits. In order to become pregnant though, a couple must have had at least two threads together (with at least five post each) and one of them must involve romance. The number of kits and the stats of the kits will be chosen by the staff. Why is that? Because once the plot comes underway, it will become much more difficult for kits to be born and survive. A mother must be pregnant one full week and must at least have one thread (with at least five posts each) in order to give birth. You are allowed to make them pregnant longer if you want. Kits, once born, will have one week where they are unable to see, hear, or speak and so will be unplayable. After one week, kits must remain kits for another three weeks before your kit will become an apprentice. *Litters must move on together.
5. What is a moon?
Moons will be determined by month. The only accelerated time that will happen is for kits and apprentices. Apprentices can be left apprentices for six moons (months) or they can be made warriors in four moons (months) provided they have gone through four threads of learning the borders, hunting, battle training, and a final assessment. Warriors will remain warriors until they are no longer able to fulfill their duty. This is determined by the roleplayer. If your cat lives to be 96 moons old without any serious ailments, they have the option to become an elder, though once they hit 144 moons they are going to be made an elder by the leader.
6. Regarding high positions.
High positions remain in power for as long as you are active. We reserve the right at any time to remove you from power if we feel you are not meeting the expectations that you were clearly given when you applied. We ask that all high positions create at least three in character posts a week. *Note, you may have two reining high positions at once as long as they are not in the same clan and are different paths. (Leader/deputy and Medicine Cat/Medicine Cat Apprentice).
7. Medicine Cats.
Medicine cats are required to gather herbs. This is all part of the position. Yes, it may be a boring thread, but we except you to give us at least one thread a month of your character gathering herbs. That being said, herbs can be found in particular territories. In order to view a complete list of herbs, where they can be found, how to use them, and how to store them; please click here. You are not allowed to use any other sources, these are the only herbs that are being accepted at this time. If you have a question or feel that we forgot one, please message one of the staff members. Medicine cats may choose their on apprentice from a pre-proved list of applicants from the staff.

rules of the chat-box
1. Respect everyone.
Yes, we expect everyone to be able to get along. We have a chatbox so we can get to know people outside of the roleplay, so our site isn't JUST focused around the roleplay. We expect everyone to be able to use the chatbox with with responsibility and not to abuse it. If it comes into question at any time that the chatbox has been misused then the staff does reserve the right to remove it.
2. Real life topics.
This includes controversial topics as well as real life. While controversial topics are allowed, if an owner asks you to stop for whatever reason, you need to do just that. Real life topics are just as touchy, and yes while we understand needing a place to vent, we have a board for that. Please use that. From time to time an occasional outburst is all right, especially because we all have them. But do not and I repeat DO NOT threaten suicide or to cut yourself. I understand that some people just do it for attention, but it is a dark road and can often leave members feeling trapped and make new members feel uncomfortable.
3. Register your name.
We have a premium box for that purpose, so you can register your name. We ask that everyone do it because there can be times where people become angry with another member and impersonate them. By registering your name, you protect yourself from anything that could be said under your name.
4. No roleplaying.
We have an entire forum dedicated to roleplaying. Please refrain from using the chatbox to do so. It is okay from time to time, but long periods of it and frequent use can often become frustrating for people that are trying to have a real conversation. We do not have an in character chatbox and at this time are not looking to get one, so please do not ask.
