personality
[As a kit, Losteye was energetic, annoying and a prankster. Nothing has changed in the dozens of moons since his birth.
There seems to be absolutely no limit to the amount of energy this aging cat has. It takes very little to get him on his feet and bouncing around the camp. There was and still is no job he disliked doing, be it hunting, fighting, gathering moss...even de-ticking the elders when he was an apprentice. As long as he was doing something he was happy. And when there was nothing to do, he and his best friend would often run out to the forest to find something to do on their own. Even in his sleep, his restlessness frequently disturbed his denmates.
Due mostly to his endless energy, many cats found him a tad bit annoying. When there was no task assigned to him, he would spend his time playing pranks on his Clanmates. Of course, the stereotypically grumpy ThunderClan cats did not enjoy that to much. Luckily for him, his large eyes and cute face got him out of about half the trouble he got himself into. One of the perks of being annoying was the fact that he found very little to annoy him. The only think that has been found to do so is the soft buzzing insects near his ear. But as a whole, he is always moving and always laughing.
Despite his annoyance factor, he is still quite personable. Many cats can't help but like him, especially since his pranks and tricks died down once he was made a warrior (of course, now that he is an elder he has much more time on his paws again). He is very charismatic and could talk himself out of a badgers nest if need be.
Well, all except for that one time when a badger took out his eye. Luckily, Losteye can find the humour in his injury and laughs along with others when he tells the story. He has been traumatized by nothing in his life.
As an Elder, very little of his personality has changed. He spends some time in his Den, but just as when he was younger, he is always itching to be out and about and still wanders around the camp looking for something to do. He often tries to sneak out of the camp and join patrols.]

history
[Dustkit was born to very loving parents. He had two siblings (though his mother was not very creative with her naming). Dustkit had been named for the thick layer of dust that appeared to be stuck to him. His sister, Cottonfur had patches of white throughout her calico fir that looked as if cotton balls had landed gently on her and refused to leave. Milkykit was pure white. And small Sunnypaw was an orange tabby who just seemed to glow with personality, even before he could really express himself.
Growing up, Dustkit had been as close to his siblings as any litter typically was. However there was one cat a few moons older then him who had really caught his attention. You Ruddkit had encouraged Dustkit to play with him a lot and the two grew to be fast friends, especially since Ruddkit was always available to play when the energetic Dustkit wanted to.
It wasn't long before Dustkit had figured out what a prank was. They started out harmless enough - sneaking into the warriors den and moving nests around and the like. Although he had yet to be caught, his parents seemed to know that it was him. His mother disproved as a whole, but while they remained innocent, she would let him be. His father, however, had a pride for his creative young kit that often got him boxed over the ears for praising. Of course, that didn't stop the affectionate dad from encouraging Dustkit in secret.
Dustkit and his siblings were apprenticed only a few moons after Ruddpaw. Dustpaw's mentor was very different from his father. Not at all approving of his apprentice's pranks, Sharptooth was never slow to tell the young cat to change or stop, especially when the pranks started to become a tad more dangerous. While it was never Dustpaw's intention to hurt anyone - things like putting a rock into someone's path when they weren't looking, making holes in the roofs of dens right before rain or switching the Medicine Cat's herbs around - were starting to get out of paw.
But he had to do something to expel his energy and he often snuck out with Ruddpaw to explore the territory. Whenever they came back, something of epic proportions had always happened to them. While the other apprentices were impressed with their adventures, Sharptooth listened in with disdain and only worked his apprentice harder.
But as much as the grumpy cat tried to push his apprentice to his breaking point, he never succeeded. Dustkit was unbreakable and he would always do everything his mentor set out for him with a hop skip and a jump to his steps. Sharptooth was all too excited when he was to be rid of Dustpaw.
Dustpaw was named Dustcloud and shortly after, Sharptooth retired (not wanting to share a den with his former apprentice). Dustcloud's pranks started to lessen as he grew older. As a warrior, he had less time to run around and mess with other cats. Because of his boundless energy, the leader and deputy were quick to put him onto as many patrols as possible but it never seemed to be enough. Dustcloud continued to go on as many patrols as he could (which made Wolfeye's job a tad easier). But his even a cat as energetic as he could not last forever.
The rest of his warrior career was fairly strait forward and uneventful. He had two apprentices who he saw happily through training and he spent as much time as he could patrolling and hanging out. He never took a mate.
Only a few moons ago, Dustcloud had been on a hunting patrol with a few others, including his then-current apprentice, Aspenpaw. Dustcloud had been watching as Aspenpaw practiced stalking a large rabbit - but he hadn't been the only one. The dutiful mentor noticed that the leaves around his apprentice were moving heavily. Then he spotted the creature that had been stalking his apprentice.
Doing the only thing a mentor could do, Dustcloud leapt out of his watching spot and landed on the back of the badger. Aspenpaw froze when she turned and was her mentor trying to save her life (the young apprentice was still very green to the idea of fighting and her reflexes to try to help her mentor had not yet been honed) and all she could do was stare in horror.
After a few quick seconds of fighting, Dustcloud was joined by Ruddthroat and the others on the patrol. They were able to take the badger down - but not before it had dug a single claw deeply into Dustcloud's right eye socket. The pain had been terrible and it was the only known time that the warrior had ever been unhappy or angry. Bleeding profusely, Ruddthroat, Dawnbreeze and Aspenpaw helped the best friend and the mentor get back to the camp quickly while the rest of the patrol dragged the badger slower behind them.
Dawnfire was impressed with the fact that Dustcloud had survived such an attack. S/he quickly set to work, shooing the messengers out of the den and out to Lavendertar's to report. It took some time before all of the eye bits had been cleaned out and all the herbs and poultices had been applied to the wound, but it seemed that, if he didn't squirm and did as instructed, the eye would heal well enough that the hero would live.
A few days later, Dustcloud was officially moved over to the Elder's den (although he still had to check in for his bi-daily drugs and bandages) and that night, Lavenderstar held a name-changing ceremony in honour of his bravery and courage. Losteye was to live out the remainder of his time alone in the Elders den. Luckily for his sanity, however, Ruddthroat joined his friend a few moons later due to his failing hearing.
Losteye was not even close to being ready to retire and he still tries to sneak out and go on patrols. Of course, now that his depth perception is so drastically off, this often causes a comical (but distracting) site. Aspenpaw was assigned a new mentor (she feel terrible about what happened to Losteye but they remain good friends and she often still goes to him with questions).
The move to the new territory had very little effect on him physically as it did with other elders. Because he was still younger then they were, he found the move to actually be quite refreshing and distracting from his recent plight.
And of course, now that he is retired and has more time on his paws...he can return to his roots, to what he loves. He can prank again!]
