"NEVER LOSE FAITH" - PEARTAIL
personality
✿ CARING
As one would expect from a medicine cat, Mistwing is very caring. Yes, she can be a pain when she is nosey and asks a million questions, but it's because she cares. She wants every cat in her Clan to be in top condition both emotionally and physically, and she will certainly do her best to make that happen! She is content when her den is empty, but when it's full, she is the most hospitable host that there ever was! When her Clan is happy, she is happy!
✿ PASSIONATE
Mistwing loves what she does and she loves her Clan. She'd do anything for the greater good of WindClan. The cat is very passionate with her position in the Clan and what it entails. Her love for helping others and mixing herbs proves as a good combination of traits for a medicine cat to possess!
✿ OBSERVENT
The she-cat likes to know things. She likes to gather and store information. Therefore, she's always watching; always paying attention. Mistwing soaks up everything she observes, creating all kinds of things in her mind to think about. This makes her a quick learner, which is definitely a perk. Having knowledge about all kinds of things makes her very versatile and able to think critically through situations.
☁ DEPENDENT/UNSURE
With Pairtail’s absence, Mistwing is beginning to realize a lot of things about herself. One of the main things is that she is very dependent on others. She bases herself off of how others are feeling or acting. This is a major flaw to possess as a medicine cat, because it should be the other way around; others should be depending on her! Pairtail had always been there to give her advice, directions, and reasoning. Now that both she and StarClan are gone, Mistwing is at a loss. Who is she supposed to seek guidance from? Dependency is a weakness and Mistwing knows it.
☁ WORRISOME
Mistwing has been a worry-ridden since she was a kit. There is always something to worry about, whether it is a cat's health, or just the herbs being in the wrong places on their shelves. She just wants everything to be in tune and perfect, so you can only imagine what’s going on inside of her head now that the Clan is out of whack. Though the cat's faith in StarClan remains strong, she can't help but worry about reaching (or not reaching) their starry ancestors once more.
☁ NOSEY
Tied in with worrying is nosiness. This trait developed over the years of being a medicine cat. The more she grew into her position, the more she felt the need to make sure that she knew everything that was going on. This comes into effect not only when she wants to make sure that every cat in the Clan is healthy, but also when she wants to know what's going on politically within the Clans. Unfortunately though, the more she knows, the more there is to worry about.
☯ DETACHED
As much as she feeds off of other cat's emotions, Mistwing must remain detached. She'd only really let herself become close with her mentor because she'd had a reason to become close with her. Sure, Mistwing is a very friendly cat and enjoys socializing, but as a medicine cat, becoming too attached just causes problems. Mistwing is constantly surrounded by death and dying. It would be extremely difficult on her emotional state if she became close with all of her patients. Therefore, she draws a line. Serious relationships would hinder her work as a medicine cat, which is her absolute main focus in the Clan. Toms aren't even in the equation, due to the fact that it breaks the code.

history
KIT: Mistkit was the born on an exceptionally misty morning, hence the prefix "Mist". She was raised by Rushstripe and Roughpelt along with her two brothers, Stonekit and Brindlekit. Mistkit had a very simple, fairly happy kithood. As she and her siblings grew up, Mistkit realized that she was not like her brothers; they were adventurous and mischievous while she was worrisome and obedient. She often found herself worrying about them when they did ill-behaved things, such as sneaking out of camp. She was a very observant kit and, based on what she heard from others, had an idea of what sort of things lied beyond the walls of the camp. Things as small as berries could kill a cat, for StarClan's sake! And how were here brothers supposed to know what kind of berries those were? Her worries would drive her to be the tattletale and ruin the fun for them, but in her mind, “at least they were safe!” Her brothers came to the conclusion that she was a brat, and they no longer invited her to play with them anymore. She didn’t really mind the exclusion – she’d find something more interesting and less dangerous to do!
And that’s exactly what she did. One day, out of pure curiosity, the kit wandered into the medicine cat’s den. She watched in awe as Peartail fixed up an elder’s seeping wound. After the elder stood and expressed his renewed content, Mistkit was completely mystified. Just like that, he was well again! “How did you do that?” She asked Peartail. With a sly grin, the medicine cat gladly explained. After that, it was hard to keep Mistkit out of Peartail’s den, and it was even harder to keep Peartail’s mouth away from Mistkit’s ear!
APPRENTICE: After a couple of months of trying out the typical apprentice life, Mistpaw came to the conclusion that the warrior path was not for her. At first, she’d thought that her fascination with plants and healing had just been a phase, but she was beginning to think it was something more… Something that she should pursue. She knew where she wanted to be: the medicine cat den with Peartail.
The cat decided to stick it out for a little bit longer, until something happened that confirmed her doubts about becoming a warrior. She was the first to witness her father dragging himself into WindClan’s camp, his body bloody and ragged. The apprentice rushed to his side, calling for help. After getting him into the medicine cat’s den, Mistpaw couldn’t be pried from his side. Since she was stubbornly sitting around the den, Peartail decided that the apprentice might as well be doing something useful. The medicine cat becan ordering Mistpaw to fetch her things and assist her as she fixed up Roughpelt. Mistpaw spent endless hours asking the medicine cat about herbs and healing, trying to learn all that she could so that she could help her father to the best of her ability. The tom eventually healed rather nicely, and only then was Mistpaw satisfied enough to leave his side.
But that didn’t mean that Peartail wanted the apprentice to leave her side. The position of medicine cat apprentice was offered to Mistpaw, and she couldn’t have been more thrilled. Peartail expressed that she hadn’t seen passion quite like hers from any other cat of her age. Mistpaw gladly took on her new role, and it wasn’t much different from what she’d already been doing anyways. The cat was basically doing everything that she had volunteered to do before, just more intensified and structured.
The days passed quickly as Mistwing’s knowledge of herbs and medicines rapidly expanded. Mistpaw and Peartail became inseparable. Their relationship became so much more than mentor and apprentice. Peartail was not only her teacher, she was her friend and her guardian. Mistpaw admired everything about the older cat, and she molded herself into sort of a mini-Peartail. The two of them worked so well together that it got to the point where they didn’t have to communicate while carrying out their duties; it was like they could read each other’s minds.
This went on for quite some time, until the day that their territory was deemed unsafe. There had been reoccurring problems for moons, such as deadly prey and poisoned herbs, and finally the leaders decided that it was time for them to relocate. Peartail remained optimistic and reassuring, often deflecting the heavy situation with a light-hearted joke, such as “Great, we’ll finally have some good tasting food again!” Such optimism kept Mistpaw from being worried, which was exactly her mentor’s intention.
The Clans picked up and were on their way. Mistpaw and Peartail were hard at work as they traveled, making sure all cats were fit and healthy. After a couple of StarClanless weeks, Mistpaw could tell that Peartail was becoming a bit discouraged by the fact that they no longer had their starry ancestors to guide them. Although, she was good at hiding her doubts. She continued to stay optimistic to Mistpaw all along.
A couple weeks into their journey, an unfortunate run-in with a fox resulted in Peartail’s death, despite all of Mistpaw’s efforts to save her mentor. Though the cat’s death took a large toll on Mistpaw, she knew she had to stay strong for the Clan and get them through the rest of their journey.
All went smoothly until the last week of their journey. While the cats were taking a rest, Peartail had gone off to search for some fresh cobwebs in case they needed some. After some time, she hadn’t returned. Mistpaw had a gut feeling that something had gone wrong. She, along with a few other selected warriors, was sent to find and retrieve the she-cat. When they finally stumbled across her, it was just what Mistpaw had been hoping they wouldn’t find: a bloody, mangled Peartail. She was alive, but barely. Mistpaw frantically did what she could to stop the bleeding and soothe her pain, but she could tell by the extremity of the wounds that there was no helping the she-cat. Peartail weakly explained that she'd gotten too close to a mother fox's nest, and hadn't realized until it was too late. Her last words to Mistpaw were "Never lose faith...", and they've stuck in her head ever since then.
The group of cats stayed by Peartail's side until she breathed her last breath, then they returned to their Clan with the heavy news. The she-cat suddenly felt very alone. Her mentor had been the only cat that she’d really grown close to. Sure, she had her family, but her relationship with them wasn’t nearly as deep as the one she’d shared with Peartail. The cat’s death pierced through Mistpaw’s heart like a sword.
MEDICINE CAT: After a few days of mourning, Mistpaw’s naming ceremony was held. Her name was changed to Mistwing and she was appointed the medicine cat of WindClan. About a week went by since the ceremony, and the Clans finally found their new home. Mistwing’s first and only priority at the moment is to locate StarClan. The Clan needs their guidance now more than ever, and so does Mistwing, especially without Peartail around.
